Practice of Satsang is an invitation for Conscious Living. Written as ‘Letters to my Grandchildren’, the book shares personal short stories, quotes from the real-life protagonists of the stories, provocative questions and practices for your experimentation and play. The purpose is to deepen relationships with oneself and with one’s family, friends, fellow – travellers, colleagues, clients and the communities one belongs to. ‘Sat’ means truth and ‘Sanga’ means company. Satsang is an old Sanskit word meaning ‘being with the truth’, and ‘gathering together to find the truth’. Usually, in my culture, it is interpreted to gather in the presence of a guru (Teacher), who would help to be with the truth. As I grew up, I realised that there are many gurus (teachers) in our lives who help us to be with the truth, with our truth. They come in unexpected relationships and situations as our own higher consciousness. The key is in my openness, perception and choice. Am I willing to recognise the teacher, the truth and times of sanga in my inner and outer worlds? Journey as you read this book, inwards to your own genius, wisdom, consciousness, bliss and truth. Come, let us exchange stories and practices and reflect together on fundamental questions, across generations and cultures.

4QInstruction (Wisdom Literature from the Ancient World) by Matthew J. Goff

English | 2013 | ISBN: 1589837827, 1589837843 | 388 pages | PDF | 2 MB

The wisdom tradition of ancient Israel, represented in the Hebrew Bible by Proverbs, Job, and Ecclesiastes and in the Apocrypha by Ben Sira and the Wisdom of Solomon, is also well-attested in the texts from Qumran. 4QInstruction (1Q26, 4Q415 418, 4Q423), the largest wisdom text of the Dead Sea Scrolls, is considered a sapiential text primarily because of its explicit and insistent pedagogical nature. To make this significant wisdom text more widely available, this volume offers a critical edition, translation, and commentary on the main fragments of 4QInstruction. It examines particular texts of 4QInstruction as well as broader issues, including its date, genre, main themes, and place in Second Temple Judaism. Finally, in order to contextualize this pivotal work, 4QInstruction s relationship to the sapiential and apocalyptic traditions is also explored.

The Jesuits: A History from Ignatius to the Present by John W. O’Malley S.J.

2014 | ISBN: 144223475X | English | 160 pages | EPUB | 4 MB

As Pope Francis continues to make his mark on the church, there is increased interest in his Jesuit background—what is the Society of Jesus, how is it different from other religious orders, and how has it shaped the world? In The Jesuits, acclaimed historian John W. O’Malley, SJ, provides essential historical background from the founder Ignatius of Loyola through the present.
The book tells the story of the Jesuits’ great successes as missionaries, educators, scientists, cartographers, polemicists, theologians, poets, patrons of the arts, and confessors to kings. It tells the story of their failures and of the calamity that struck them in 1773 when Pope Clement XIV suppressed them worldwide. It tells how a subsequent pope restored them to life and how they have fared to this day in virtually every country in the world. Along the way it introduces readers to key figures in Jesuit history, such as Matteo Ricci and Pedro Arrupe, and important Jesuit writings, such as the Spiritual Exercises.
Concise and compelling, The Jesuits is an accessible introduction for anyone interested in world or church history. In addition to the narrative, the book provides a timeline, a list of significant figures, photos of important figures and locations, recommendations for additional reading, and more.
