A snippet of action from the upcoming fourth installment of the comedy-action “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise, originally titled “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” has surfaced online. Eddie Murphy returns to his role as Axel Foley, joined by Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective Bobby Abbott. In the released clip, they are seen hijacking a helicopter. Some of the aftermath of this event was teased in the previously released first trailer for the film.
The fourth installment, directed by first-time feature director Mark Molloy, has completed production. It is set to premiere on streaming platforms on July 3rd.
The franchise’s inaugural film was released in 1984, grossing over $316 million against a budget of $14 million. It was followed by sequels in 1987 and 1994.
