Set in a Western-themed environment, Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place across several fictional U.S. states at the turn of the 20th century. The game’s story revolves around the adventures of the Van der Linde gang; players control one of the gang members, Arthur Morgan, and after completing the main storyline up to the epilogue, another member, John Marston. Following a failed ferry robbery, the outlaws are forced to hide in the wilderness from federal agents and bounty hunters.
Red Dead Redemption 2 offers players the freedom to explore its vast world, discovering interesting places and activities on their own. These activities include shootouts, robberies, hunting wild animals, horseback riding, and finding collectibles such as cigarette cards, legendary fish and animals, dinosaur bones, and cave paintings. A unique “honor” system tracks both honorable and criminal actions, affecting the game’s story and gameplay.
In total, over 89 million copies of the Red Dead series have been sold, compared to 86 million previously. Take-Two’s CEO also noted that Red Dead Redemption 2 exceeded their expectations once again this quarter.
