Paramount Pictures has announced that WWE icon Cody Rhodes has officially joined the upcoming reboot of “The Naked Gun,” set to premiere in 2025.
Along with confirming Rhodes’ appearance in the film, the studio also revealed that Liza Koshy, CCH Pounder, and musical artist Busta Rhymes will be part of the cast. They will join previously announced actors including Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, and Danny Huston.
Details about how Koshy, Rhodes, Pounder, and Busta Rhymes will fit into the film’s plot are still under wraps. Rumors about Rhodes’ role in the reboot had been circulating for some time: last month, the Daily Mail reported that he had secured a “significant cameo role.” Sources from Deadline also suggest that the WWE champion’s role is limited to a cameo appearance.
Meanwhile, Neeson is set to play Frank Drebin, a character originally portrayed by the late Leslie Nielsen in the original “The Naked Gun.” The reboot was officially announced earlier this year and appears to be steadily progressing toward its 2025 premiere, with Anderson added to the cast just a month after the initial announcement.
The new “The Naked Gun” film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 18, 2025.
